Quite possibly the biggest moment of this weekend’s Stagecoach Festival was Shania Twain debuting a single called Life’s About To Get Good from what will be her first new album in 15 years. Here’s what Shania said about the new song via Rolling Stone:
“I was at home looking out at the ocean and I said to myself, ‘Here I am stuck in this past of negativity, but it’s so beautiful out. I’m not in the mood to write a ‘feeling-sorry-for-myself’ song,” she said of writing “Life’s About to Get Good.” “You can’t have the good without the bad. And that’s what the song ended up being about.”
Those outside the country music world (or too young to remember her 2002 album Up!) might not quite realize how big a deal a new album from Shania Twain will be. Currently sportsbook site Sports Betting Dime has Shania listed as the odds on favorite to have the number one selling female album of 2017 at 2/1 odds. From the site:
One of country music’s greatest artist and one of the highest selling female acts of all time is coming out of retirement to release her fifth studio album (first since 2002), which will probably shatter records once again. Her popularity is still undeniable. Pegged as her “farewell tour,” the Canadian songwriter sold out her Rock This Country Tour in 2015. The farewell ironically re-lit the creative flame within and now she is ready for world dominance once again. Just to put things in perspective, her 2002 album Up! went certified diamond 17 days after its release.
That would mean beating out even Katy Perry, Lorde and Lana Del Rey. The much anticipated new album is due out in September according to Billboard. Watch her perform her new single Life’s About To Get Good below:
