James Murphy is looking to improve the experience of riding New York’s subway system. He tells The Wall St. Journal:

I’ve been noticing that the subway sounds quite brutal. There’s a missing opportunity at the turnstile. At the moment there’s this kind of unpleasant beep. Given that all of that information is already in the turnstile why don’t we give it a nice sound? Just make it pleasant.
