Alanis Morrissette’s 1995 hit Ironic has long been scoffed at for not actually being about irony. That’s all changed now that the song has been hilariously rewritten by Rachael Hurwitz to correct this problem. Watch It’s Finally Ironic below:
Most of these still aren’t even true cases of irony by the way. Also: you changed the line about the guy in the plane crash who thought ”Well isn’t this nice?” which was actually the only true case of irony in the song. A worse attempt at being ironic than the original really.
It’s quite ironic that you’ve tried to correct a song written by a woman who doesn’t know what irony is with even worse examples of ”irony”. In all fairness.
Excuse me while I put on my glasses in the most pretentious way possible. . . Actually my fine misinformed friend, those were mostly really good examples of irony. That plane crash story, I’m sorry to say, was the WEAKEST example of irony in the original song. For the most part that tragic scenario was fraught with circumstantial COINCEDENCE. Although, the man was speaking ironically, which is ironic considering the lack of irony in his situation. The true irony, however, is complaining about a lack of irony in a song about lacking irony when your own statements are they themselves lacking the grasp of irony. But whats REALLY ironic is I actually agree with you. Those girls failed to provide sufficient examples of irony. Well spotted chap.
PS: EVEN MORE IRONIC is the fact that while I was speaking ironically, everything I said was true. Your brain go splody now!
Last Row is a weekly music podcast for the fans in the back, with no prior music bona fides required for entry. From up-and-coming artists and new songs to good music videos and bad live shows, we'll be talking about it all from our vantage point in, where else, the last row.

The song IS ironic because the things she brings up aren’t. She even confirmed it herself.

And you believed that?
Hey Stuart, if I ever do something incorrectly and I’m embarrassed by it…know that I meant to do it. Thanks.
Whoever is playing the instruments isn’t very good though.
